ADB to help develop BD’s ICT sector

The visiting delegation of Asian Development Bank (ADB) has expressed their interest to work in Bangladesh for the development of IT sector to produce skilled manpower and also to help the country building as a Digital Bangladesh.
The interest was shown when a three-member ADB delegation called on UGC Chairman Professor Abdul Mannan at the latter’s office on Thursday.
Rudi Van Dael, Senior Social Sector Specialist, Bangladesh Resident Mission, ADB led the delegation. Other members of the delegation included Ryotaro Hayashi, Social Sector Specialist, Human and Social Development Division, South Asia Department, ADB and Dr. Muhiuddin Alamgir, Consultant, ADB.
They also discussed strengthening university-industry linkage. Various aspects of higher education including curriculum and syllabus development, teaching-learning and enrollment also came up for the discussion.
Welcoming the ADB interest UGC Chairman said that skills in the areas of IT language, communication and analytical skills are highly needed to survive in this globalized world. ADB expects to initiate the proposed project from July 2017 for skills development in Bangladesh.
