BSS, Dhaka :
Shipping Minister Shajahan Khan on Wednesday stressed the need for taking adaptive measures to face the adverse impacts of global climate change.
“Global community already has recognized Bangladesh as the worst victim of climate change and we have to take adequate adaptive measures to tackle the climate change issues,” he told a workshop on ‘Coastal Climate Resilient Infrastructure Project (CCRIP)’ at LGED Bhban here.
Additional secretary of Local Government Division (LGD) Ashoke Madhab Roy, chief engineer of LGED Wahidur Rahman, project director of CCRIP AKM Lutfur Rahman and country programme officer of International Fund for Agriculture Development (IFAD) Nicolas Syed, among others, addressed the workshop. Lutfur said the CCRIP has been designed to achieve improved livelihood, in the form of higher incomes and food security, for poor households in the selected upazilas of 12 coastal districts of the country.
The districts are Barisal, Bhola, Patuakhali, Barguna, Jhalakathi, Pirojpur, Khulna, Bagerhat, Satkhira, Gopalganj, Madaripur and Sariatpur.
