Acute shortage of medicines made all 171community clinics throughout the district useless for the last two months.
 The project -based clinics have been facing shortage of medicines as there were no enough budgets. It has been disheartening the people as it was the most important challenging project of the present government in the health sector.
Bangladesh Medicine Research Centre in Dhaka, had been supplying the drugs, said, the civil surgeon office sources in Jhenaidah.
For want of medicine, the staff of the community clinics at places have been man handled, alleged some of the community health care providers (CHCP) engaged in providing services in the clinics.
Jhenaidah CS office sources said, the number of CC in Jhenaidah Sadar upazila was 38, 39 in Sailkupa, 39 in Sailkupa, 23 in Harinakundu, 11 in Kotchandpur, 33 in Moheshpur and 27 in Kaliganj upazila.
A CHCP at Sakharidah CC in Harinakundu upazila said, there were deprived off receiving any medicine for past eight weeks leading her CC closure. The CCs like her passing without any work at the service points.
Another CHCP in Sailkupa when asked said, the government was supplying at least 29 items of medicines for the community clinics situated in rural villages. But some seven to eight items are supplied now, the CHCP said.
A number of patients have been misbehaving with the CC staffs as there was no essential drug which was in huge quantity a few weeks back.
 A number of CHCPs already had stopped attending the CCs regular as the locals use abuse languages towards them.
Civil Surgeon in Jhenaidah Dr. Abdus Salam when contacted had admitted the severe crisis of medicines said, there was no supply of adequate drugs in the community clinics for last eight weeks.
The CS admitted the sufferings of the rural people said, as the CCs were running with the assistance of the BMRC, they had stopped providing supplies. But the supplies might be resumed within a short time, he expressed his hope.
