Gas crisis has created acute sufferings for house wives in different areas of the capital for months.
They say that they are now cooking their day long meals every morning because gas flow on burners goes down after 7:00 to 7:30 am every day.
“I and other women in this area are in untold sufferings due to acute gas shortages. There is no flow of gas we find on burners after morning 7:00 to 7:30 am every day. In this circumstance, most of the homemakers are now used to cook breakfast and lunch items early morning. If anyone fails to do so, he or she will suffer day long,” said Aklima Khatun, Satis Sarkar Road of Gandaria.
She said the gas shortage started from the beginning of the last winter. They thought that the crisis will be eliminated after the winter, but the problems have not been erased, but are remaining acutely, Aklima added.
In neighboring areas people also alleged the same.
“We pay Tk 975 for burners every month, but the gas crisis forced us to buy LPG gas cylinders regularly. It is very pathetic,” said Yousuf Ahmed, a house owner in DIT plot, Gandaria.
Similarly allegations of the gas shortages have been found in Gandaria, Faridabad, Jurain, Postogola, Narinda, Jatrabari, Nazimuddin Road, Kayettuli and adjacent areas of the old Dhaka, Malibagh, Shiddheswary and some areas of Mirpur.
Arif Hossain, a house owner of Kayettuli area
of the old Dhaka, said, people of the area are in untold suffering due to shortage of gas in burners.
Most of the days, we found no choice to buy breakfast items from restaurants. The gas flow found zero in the morning after wakeup and returns at night.
“Frequently housewives found gas flow in burners at night 8:00pm and some times at 10:00pm, it is really very sad matter,” he said.
In Mirpur-11 area, the housewives alleged that they have lost the timetable of preparing family meals.
“The total times of the winter we suffered from gas shortages. We hoped that aftermath the winter the gas flow would be normal, but we are suffering the same. Some of our neighbors are using LPG gas, some of us wait until deep night for preparing families dinners,” said Shefali bose, a homemaker of the area.
The mothers of baby children are in sufferings more as they needed to prepare their babies meals different times a day, but there is no gas on burners maximum times in day, they alleged.
When contacted, Engineer Ali Iqbal Md. Nurullah, Managing Director of Titas Gas Transmission and Distribution Company Limited told The New Nation on Thursday, “In winter it was normal of lower gas flows on burners.”
“I will surely investigate the cause of the gas flow crisis in those areas,” the Titas MD said.
