Sheikh Arif Bulbon :
Once popular film actress Shilpi, real name is Anjuman Ara Shilpi, acted in 36 movies from 1995 to 2000. Viewers can easily recall her name when we mention Mohammad Hossain produced and Rana Naser directed movie Priyojon because Shilpi acted in that movie against late popular hero Salman Shah. In that film, a duet song rendered by Andrew Kishore and Sabina Yasmin titled E jiboney jarey cheyechhi, aj ami tarey peyechhi, tumi aamar sei tumi aamar, tomarey khunjey peyechhi is still enthralling the listeners’ attention. In Priyojon, Salman Shah and Shilpi’s performances were highly appreciated to the viewers.
Despite having popularity Shilpi left herself from acting in the big screen. When yesterday this correspondent contacted with her she mentioned that she has no possibility to return to acting now.
While talking in this regard Shilpi told this correspondent, “I had worked in that golden times of our film industry and that honour which I received and still getting I want to pass my rest of life with these. In fact, I am aware of present condition of film industry. I have nothing to receive new from here. I am a film heroine and I feel proud of it. Viewers still know me and give me honour only for working in films. I am a person of film industry, it’s my recognition.” Before working in big screen Shilpi worked in theatre plays with the hands of her maternal uncle Sohrab with Shakuntala Natyagosthi in Narayanganj. Shilpi acted first film was Awlad Hossain Chaklader’s Nag Nortoki. But her acted first released movie was Mohammad Hossain’s Banglar Commando. It was released on May 5,1995.
