Ahsan Habib Nasim is the viewers’ choice popular actor and organiser. Actors Equity Bangladesh started its journey in 1998. Ferdousi Mazumder and Tauquir Ahmed were selected as President and General Secretary respectively for the first time in 2002. During that time Ahsan Habib Nasim was a worker of the Actors Equity. In 2009, when Aly Zaker and Tushar Khan were elected as President and General Secretary respectively, during that time Nasim was Office Secretary of the Actors Equity. That time Nasim started to think about the responsibilities of the actors and state responsibilities to actors. Then Nasim became General Secretary for two terms 2017-19 and 2019-21.
According to the members of the Actors Equity, after taking charge of General Secretary, Ahsan Habib Nasim changed overall scenario of the Equity. He gave a lot of efforts to solve problems of the actors. As a result, among the members of the Actors Equity, Nasim became not only a popular actor but also a good organiser. Election of Actors Equity is scheduled to be held on January 28. There are 750 voters of the Actors Equity. Most of them want to see him in the post of President of the Equity. While talking about contesting for the post of President in upcoming election of Actors Equity Bangladesh, Ahsan Habib Nasim said, “I was in the post of General Secretary of Actors Equity for two terms. I tried to give my level best efforts when I was in that post. I tried to solve all problems of the members. But while performing my duties as General Secretary of Actors Equity, I found there is still gap among actors of generation to generation. Therefore, it is not clear to me what actors (members) want. I will be grateful to the members if they elect me for the post of President of Actors Equity Bangladesh in the upcoming election.”
Nasim also said that in this year’s election, a total of 48 candidates are contesting for the posts of 21. Veteran actor Khairul Alam Sabuj is working as Chief Election Commissioner while Noresh Bhuiyan and Masum Aziz will perform their duties as election commissioners in the election. Veteran actor Mamunur Rashid is working as chief of the appeal board along with Brindaban Das and advocate Hasan Ferdous Jewel as its members.
