Noted actor Golam Habibur Rahman Modhu is no more. In media, he was popular to all in the name of Modhuda. He died in a cardiac arrest in a city hospital in early hours of Wednesday.
Modhu’s only son Bidyut told this correspondent, “Father had been
suffering from liver complications for last few days. He was admitted into hospital. After transferring him into ICU he faced cardiac arrest. Then he died. Everybody pray for my father. Last year
I lost my mother.”
In TV plays, there are some roles which are
basically created to keep in mind to cast Modhu to perform. Modhu also felt comfortable to act in those roles properly.
Hailed from Kazirhata of Rajshahi Modhu started his acting career when he was only 18 years old. During that time he acted in different theatre groups. He started to work in Betar in 1962 and in television in 1969. From that time to till death he acted in many plays. Besides
acting in small screen, he also worked in many movies. His acting was highly appreciated with Mithun Chakraborty in Syed Hasan Imam and Shakti Shamonto directed movie Abichar.
Modhu acted
mentionable other films were Smuggler, Pension, Bortoman, Shontan Jokhon Shotru, Chandranath, etc. He worked in Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy (BSA) for many years.
His first namaz-e-janaza was held adjacent mosque of his residence in the city’s Adabor area.
Then his body was kept at BSA from 3:30pm to 4:00pm to pay tribute to him. Second janaza was held there. Later he
was buried in Azimpur graveyard.
