The Parliamentary Standing Committee on the Shipping Ministry on Wednesday recommended strengthening monitoring to ensure smooth and safe journey of home-bound Eid passengers by waterways. The recommendation was made at a meeting of the committee held at the Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban with committee chairman Major (retd) Rafiqul Islam Bir Uttam in the chair, an official release said. Members of the committee Talukdar Abdul Khaleq, Md Nurul Islam Sujan and Md Anwarul Azim attended the meeting.
The meeting discussed the activities of Chittagong Port Authority and Mongla Port Authority for better transportation as 90 percent of country’s trade depends on seaports.
