Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) Mayor Sayeed Khokon on Monday said stern actions would be taken if traders bring any unfit cattle to markets for the upcoming Eid-ul-Azha.
“There will be a mobile court at every animal market and instant action will be taken if any trader brought sick and unfit sacrificing animals to cattle markets for sale,” he said.
The mayor said this while speaking at a view-exchanging meeting with cleaners at Nagar Bhaban in the city.
“Around 2.75 lakh animals will be slaughtered this year in DSCC areas and there will be around 25,000 tonnes of wastages,” he said adding, “Our 12,000 cleaners will start working with 350 vehicles and other cleaning equipments from the noon of Eid day to clean the trash.”
This year, DSCC has selected 623 spots to sacrifice animals so that the corporation cleaners can go there to remove the animal wastages, Khokon said, urging the devotees to sacrifice the animals on the designated spots.
“You should sacrifice animals on the selected spots to keep the city clean,” he said.
The mayor urged residents of the city to upload pictures on social media – facebook or call on a hotline no – 09611000999, if they found any left.
