Dr. Mohammad Javed Patwary, the 40th Inspector General (IG) of Bangladesh Police, on first day of his two-day visit at Barishal on Thursday afternoon, said action would be taken against members of law enforcing agencies connected with crime. No cooperation would be given to any members of police forces connected with drug peddling or addiction.
Militancy, terrorism and drug addiction was not only problems for police, but those were social crimes also.
Without involving mass people and creating social awareness and resistances, those could not be prevented and controlled fully and it would also be done more hardly. We now are dreaming about creating policing friendly with women, children and financially-distressed people.
The IGP was addressing a meeting of distinguished guests from cross section of people at Barishal Police Lines ground.
The programme was presided over by Shafiqul Islam, Deputy Inspector General of Police Barishal Range and addressed among others by Talukdar Md. Yunus, AL district secretary and lawmaker, Mahbubuddin Ahmed Bir Bikram, AL leader, Shahiduzzaman, Divisional Commissioner, Mahfuzur Rahman, Acting Commissioner of Barishal Metropolitan Police, Atika Islam, Commanding Officer (Additional DIG) of RAB-8, Habibur Rahman, Deputy Commissioner, Saiful Islam, District Superintendent of Police.
The IGP said police is working to create Bangladesh, a developed country free from drugs, terrorism and militancy within 2041. Police also controlling arson-terrorism of 2015, saved democracy and prevented the country from the hands of those who tried to take country forcibly going back.
Police stations would be center for public service and people can complain, if they were not satisfied by them, the IGP added by assuring action.
An open air cultural function with imminent artists of the country also arranged at night on this occasion.
During these two-day long visit at Barishal, on Friday, the IGP laid foundation stone of 12-storied barrack, meeting with the high officials of police, distribution of prizes among the winners of the competitions arranged by police.
