A total of 465 flood affected farmers of Katabari union of Gobindaganj upazila in the district got cash support of TK 23.25 Lakh from Action Aid, a leading non-government international organization, to recover their losses on Monday.
The organization distributed the money under its cash support programme for flood affected families funded by The Greta Thunberg Foundation.
On the occasion of cash distribution, a function was held on the premises of Mahmud Bug High School of the union in the afternoon.
Abdul Latif Prodhan, Upazila Chairman, addressed the event as the chief guest while Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Ram Krishna Barmon addressed as the special guest.
Presided over by Senior Agriculture Officer of Ghoraghat Action Aid branch office Abdul Kaiyum, the function was also addressed among others by Upazila Agriculture Officer Mortoba Ali Manik, former Chairman of Katabaari Union Parishad Shafique Mahmud Golap and Programme Officer of Ghoraghat Action Aid Shamiur Rahman Shamim.
