State Minister for Home Affairs Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal has said that the government has initiated a probe into the government officials’ secret meeting with BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia.
“We (govt) have got detailed information about the officials who held a secret meeting with Begum Khaleda Zia. Action will follow the investigation,” he said.
The State Minister said this while inaugurating the Chhatra League’s ‘Save Campus, Clean Campus’ programme at Tejgaon Government College in the capital on Saturday morning.
“Investigators have already collected names and addresses of those who met the BNP Chairperson. Investigation is on. Legal action will be taken against them as per law after the investigation,” Kamal added.
The State Minister also claimed that detectives were aware of the secret meeting. The detectives had no failure in this regard, he said.
Some former and present bureaucrats joined a meeting attended by Khaleda Zia at her Gulshan residence in the capital late at night on Thursday. The news of the meeting was published in the media the following day. But BNP claimed that no such meeting was held at Gulshan.
Contrarily, several BNP leaders including Khaleda Zia’s press secretary admitted about the meeting claiming that law was not violated in this regard.
