There is no way to make any change in the recently passed “Road Transport Act 2018” right now, said Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader on Sunday. Referring to the demands of the transport workers, Quader said, “We can’t amend the Road Transport Act now. If there is any rational demand, we’ll consider it after discussion and they have to at least wait until the next Parliament session.”
Rather transport workers should call off the strike in the greater interest.
They (transport workers) have to be patient for now Quader added.
The Minister firmly said while talking to media on the Setu Bhaban yesterday.
Earlier, transport workers announced a 48-hour work abstention from 6 am on Sunday to press home their eight-point demand.
About the seven-point demand of Dr Kamal Hossain-led Jatiya Oikyafront, Quader said, “There is no chance to consider the seven-points demand placed by Dr Kamal and BNP now because if we want meet the seven-points demands we’ll have to change the Constitution.”
