Acting principal and office peon of Barisal City College were beaten on the campus by rival group of teachers on Thursday noon.
Police rushed to the spot detained three teachers to control the situation, but later released them.
College sources said there was dispute between the teachers about formation of managing committee and appointing Rabindranath Adhikari as acting principal of the college.
Case lodged after an illegal managing committee headed by AL activist Pro. Md Hanif was formed and Shahanara Begum was appointed as acting principal of the college by that illegal committee on June 2014.
Later National University authouriy appointed Barisal divisional commissioner as head of the managing committee and asked Rabindranath Adhikari to perform duty as acting principal of the college for next six months.
High Court also stopped functioning of the illegal managing committee and asked Rabindranath Adhikari to continue his duty as acting principal.
Letter in this regard reached at the college on August 24 and Rabindranath Adhikari as acting principal through a letter tried to inform the matter to college teachers and staffs on Thursday noon.
However, the rival group of Adhikari becoming agitated writing on notice book that they do not recognise the acting principal beat Rabindranath Adhikari at his office and notice bearer peon Sultana Begum at college campus.
This created hue and cry in the college and police led by Sub Inspector Mohiuddin rushed to the campus detained three teachers named Md. Shamsuddin of English , Moazzem Hossain of Islamic Studies and Nurul Islam of Social Welfare departments as per allegation of the acting principal.
Shakhawat Hossain, Kotwali police station office in charge, said the detained three teachers later released as per decision of the managing committee.
Md. Shahabuddin denying any assault on acting principal or office peon alleged that group of teachers led by Rabindranath Adhikari done gross corruption and irregularities and so he was removed by the managing committee from his post.
Rabindranath Adhikari denying the allegation claimed he performing duty legally as per order of the legally formed managing committee, National University and High Court.
