BSS, Rangpur :
Representatives of Association for Community Development (ACD), a rights-based organisation, have blamed different tobacco companies for violating the amended Tobacco Control Act (TCA) and laws concerned.
They expressed dissatisfaction over slower enforcement of the amended TCA, Smoking & Tobacco Products Usage (Control) Act and other related laws to stop smoking in public places for saving public health from indirect smoking and tobacco catastrophes.
According to an ACD press release, they made these observations at an information-sharing meeting on field level enforcement situation of the anti-tobacco laws and its violation with local journalists at its regional office in the city on Tuesday. ACD, Anti Tobacco Media Alliance (ATMA) and Tobacco Control Coalition (TCC) jointly organised the meeting with Focal Person of Rangpur TCC and Executive Editor of the Daily Rangpur Chitra Shushanto Bhowmick in the chair.
Project Coordinator of ACD Ehsanul Amin Emon shared information based on recent survey and monitoring activities conducted at different areas on slower enforcement pace and violation of the tobacco control laws by different tobacco companies.
