Vandalising Ctg magistrate's car: Accused wounded in ‘gunfight’

The prime accused in a case filed over vandalising the vehicle of a magistrate during an eviction drive on May 13 sustained bullet injuries in a reported gunfight with police at Khamarbari of the city early Monday.
The victim was identified as Jasim, 40, a resident of Bayezid area of the city.

Police Station, said police arrested Jasim from Chandgaon area on Sunday in the case filed over the vandalism.
Later, police along with Jasim conducted a drive at Chowdhurynagar Khamarbari in Chandgaon at night to recover arms.
Sensing presence of the law enforcers, his associates opened fire on police in a bid to take Jasim away.
At one stage, police fired back in self-defence that triggered a gunfight. Jasim sustained bullet injuries during the incident.
On May 13, a mobile court conducted an eviction drive at Bayezid Shersah Bangla Bazar area in the city.
Jasim along with his associates launched an attack on the magistrate and vandalised three vehicles, including that of the magistrate, during the drive. Later, a case was filed and Jasim was made the prime accused in the case.
