The Supreme Court (SC) on Tuesday stayed the High Court (HC) order that had granted bail to Saleh Rahman Simanta, a prime accused of Tanvir Mohammad Twaki murder case.
Justice Hasan Foez Siddique, the chamber judge of the Appellate Division, passed the stay order for two weeks responding a plea of state.
On June 24, a High Court vacation bench of Justice Salma Masud Chowdhury and Justice Farid Ahmed gave the
ad-interim bail to the accused who was arrested on April 18 for his alleged involvement in killing Twaki, a school student of Narayanganj, in March last year.
Assistant Attorney General SK Shaifuzzaman told the reporters “We move the top court as the bail of the prime accused could hinder the investigation process which is underway.”
