Awami League leader Ruhul Amin has been expelled from the party for his alleged involvement in the gang-rape of a woman in Noakhali’s Subarnachar Upazila.
He was the publicity affairs secretary of Subarnachar AL and former Union Parishad member.
Ruhul Amin was expelled on Saturday for allegedly ordering the rape, Advocate Faruk, president of Subarnachar AL unit told the local journalists.
The decision came two days after police arrested him on charge of ordering his accomplices to rape the mother of four for voting for “Sheaf of Paddy”.
Meanwhile, police placed before a cognisance court 7-day remand prayers for all the seven arrestees including Ruhul Amin in the case.
