Police have arrested another accused of the sensational killing of Fulgazi upazila chairman Ekramul Haque Ekram.
The arrestee was identified as Azmir Hossain Raihan, son of Abdul Motaleb Ratan of West Sonapur village in Sadar upazila. Police said, locals caught four muggers from Birinchi area in the district town on Monday night and handed them over to police after giving them a good beating.
On Tuesday morning, police became sure that it was that Raihan who directly took part in the Ekram killing mission.
Abul Kalam Azad, inspector of Feni Model Police Station and investigation officer of the case, said police identified Raihan through the video footage taken on a mobile phone.
On May 20, Ekram, also president of Fulgazi upazila unit of Awami League, came under attack by miscreants in Bilasi Cinema Hall area in the town on his way to Fulgazi municipality office from his Masterpara residence in the district town.
The miscreants intercepted his microbus and shot him from a very close range and burned him alive. They also stabbed and beat up those accompanied the AL leader.
