SI murder: Accused Hassan’s wife testifies

Tania Begum, wife of accused Hassan Mahmud of the murder case of DB Inspector Md Jalal Uddin, gave statement in connection with the incident, Under Section 164 of the Criminal Procedure Code.
Inspector Wahiduzzaman, Investigation Officer of the case, filed a petition with a Dhaka court on Thursday. Later, Magistrate Khurshid Alam of the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (CMM)
Court recorded Tania’s statement.
Tania said in her statement, “Hassan’s friend Manik came home on the night, the incident took place. They were gossiping on the roof-top of the second floor. Around 11:30pm, I heard sound of two bullets. Then, I ran on to the roof and found firearms at the hands of my husband Hassan. Just after shooting, Hassan and his friend Manik fled the scene by the sunset of an adjacent building.
On March 19, Jalal was shot in the head when he went to raid a three-storey building (House No. 105/A/1) of Pirerbagh in the city near Alimuddin School where some criminals were reportedly hiding. He was taken to the Square Hospital of West Panthapath area, where the physicians declared him dead.
Earlier, the court fixed May 6 for submission of report in the case, after receiving the case statement on Thursday.
