UNB, Narayanganj :
An accused in the schoolgirl Monalisa murder case who was arrested by Interpol in the UAE was handed over to Bangladesh police on Sunday.
The International Criminal Police Organization (Interpol) handed Abu Sayeed, 35, son of Iqbal Hossain of Ambagan in the city, over to a team of Fatullah Police Station at Shahjalala International Airport in the capital around 8am, said Manjur Quader, officer-in-charge of the police station.
He said, the Interpol arrested expatriate Sayeed from Dubai on September 17 over the murder.
On February 2 last, Sayeed killed Monalisa Akhter, 12, daughter of trader Shahin Bapari, after rape.
Later, he hanged the body from a ceiling fan in her bedroom to make it appear that she committed suicide.
Soon after the incident, the youth fled to the UAE.
