The National Statistics Day was observed in the country on Sunday in order to make the government statistics more public oriented and also to reach those to the doorsteps of people.
The theme of this year’s day is “Quality statistics is the staircase of better life.
Statistics Department including District Administration in Kishoreganj arranged a discussion meeting at local Collectorate Conference Room on Sunday.
ADC (General) Nazmul Islam Sarker attended as chief guest, while Deputy Director (DD)in Statistics Department Md.Anu Sayem presided over. DD Abu Sayem said that the use of digital technology in the collection, compilation and publication of information by BBS is accelerating the government’s commitment to building a ‘Digital Bangladesh’.
It also helps the government’s efforts to build a prosperous ‘Sonar Bangla’, he added”

BSS from Rajshahi adds: Accurate statistics is very important for adopting proper development planning to take the country forward successfully through facing all the existing challenges, including the global pandemic and natural disasters.
All the authorities and others concerned should come forward and work together for collecting and furnishing authentic statistics and information of all the nation-building issues.
Administrative officials and other stakeholders came up with the observation while addressing a discussion held at the Office Conference Hall of the divisional commissioner in the city on Sunday.
Rajshahi Divisional and District Offices of the Bangladesh Bureau of Statistics jointly hosted the discussion in observance of the National Statistics Day.
The theme of this year’s National Statistics Day was “Quality statistics is the staircase of better life (Gunogoto Porisongkhan Unnoto Jiboner Sopan)”.
Commissioner of Rajshahi division GSM Zafarullah and its Additional Commissioner Ziaul Haque addressed the discussion as chief and special guests respectively with Deputy Commissioner Abdul Jalil in the chair.

Commissioner Zafarullah said no nation can develop without statistics as future planning and development depend on it. Accurate statistics frame the stair of improved life, while unauthentic and error statistics can fetch devastation, he added.
