BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir on Thursday claimed that the Anti-Corruption Commission has only one task, which is to keep opposition leaders out of politics.
“The ACC’s only task is to frame up false cases against the opposition leaders to keep them away from politics in the name of carrying out investigation into those false cases,” he said this while talking to journalists at Nayapaltan BNP central office.
Mirza Fakhrul was released from a city hospital on Wednesday. “Whereas no investigation is being conducted against the ruling Awami League leaders and ministers, though they have built up huge wealth during the last 10 years,” alleged the BNP Secretary General.
He accused that even those against whom cases were filed, investigation conducted and convicted but still they are carrying out jobs as ministers.
Fakhrul said the government has formed the Election Commission but it has no relation with the opposition political parties.
He also alleged that state structure has been distorted, saying in the name of democracy ‘one party rule’ is being imposed.
Fakhrul questioned whether it is the responsibility of BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia or her party alone to protect democracy or the people of the country.
