The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) will not investigate personal ‘fraud and cheating’ cases. But it will take step if any government official is involved in any scam or deprived by another, ACC sources said.
“A number of personal ‘fraud and cheating’ cases are in ACC office. Huge cases are being filed every day. It hampers the investigation of big cases. So we have decided not to investigate any personal cases in future. But the ACC will deal the cases if the government officials are involved in any fraud or deprived,” ACC Chairman Md Badiuzzaman told The New Nation on Wednesday.
The ACC chairman said that, the ACC had sent some recommendations to the Cabinet. It has received it. The Cabinet sent the recommendations to the Law Ministry to change the ACC law. It will be placed to the next Parliament Session, he said.
ACC sources said that the government asked the ACC to investigate the personal ‘fraud’ cases Under Section 420 of the ACC Law 2013. The police stations and the courts send huge cases to ACC to investigate. The ACC has no adequate manpower to deal with the cases. That is why the ACC has requested the government to change the section 420.
“The ACC has to give sufficient time to investigate the personal cases. Our main function is to investigate the government and state related fraud cases. If we concentrate to the personal cases, the ACC cannot work properly. We have to spend more time and money. Even it has not available manpower also,” the ACC chairman said.
