The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) will investigate the corruption in Chittagong General Hospital. The report of the investigation committee formed earlier will be sent to the ACC in this week for more investigation and taking action, sources said. The authorities is sending the report to the chairman of managing committee of Chittagong General Hospital Zia Uddin Bablu MP for signing the forwarding letter.
After completing formalities, the report of investigation committee that was formed to investigate the corruption of Chittagong General Hospital will be forwarded to ACC, the sources said.
The investigation committee investigated the corruption of Chittagong General Hospital and submitted the report on September 6. The report mentioned that the previous management of Chittagong General Hospital and Civil Surgeon Dr Sorforaj Khan Babul was engaged in corruption while procuring equipments for the hospital. Dr Khurshid Ara, Superintendent Chittagong General Hospital said, ” We are sending the report with forwarding letter to the law maker from Kotowali constituency Zia Uddin Ahamed Bablu.”
Chief of the committee and Deputy Commissioner of Chittagong Mezbah Uddin said, “we find out some irregularities which proved corruption. But, we recommended sending the file to ACC for further investigation and taking action in this regard.” The three member investigation committee was led by DC of Chittagong Mezbah Uddin. The rest two members are incumbent civil surgeon Dr Azizur Rahman and the Bangladesh Medical Association (BMA) Chittagong committee representative Dr Foisal Iqbal. The three members committee was formed to investigate the corruption of Chittagong General Hospital in a meeting held on April 10 this year.
The committee has submitted the report on that day mentioning that the previous management of Chittagong General Hospital and Civil Surgeon Dr Sorforaj Khan Babul was engaged in corruption.
The committee also recommended for more investigation to unearth the corruption of outgoing civil surgeon Dr Sorforaj Khan Babul and the officials. The then civil surgeon Dr Sorforaj Khan Babul had procured the equipments without any demand order and violating the tender procedure. Besides, he used fake order numbers in this regard, according to investigation report.
