The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) on Thursday filed a case against six people, including Principal of Rangpur Medical College, over irregularities in procuring medical equipment.
ACC Deputy Director Ferdous Rahman filed the case with its district
coordinated office, Rangpur, ACC spokesperson Pranab Kumar Bhattacharya told UNB.
The accused are Principal Dr Mohammad Nur Islam, proprietor of Bengal Surgical and Scientific Company, Dhaka Mohammad Zahiruddin Sarkar, Abdus Sattar Sarkar from Dinajpur, Ahsan Habib from Dhaka, owner of Universal Trade Corporation Mohammad Asadur Rahman and Assistant Professor of Medicine Department the medical college Dr Md Sarwat Hossain.
Pranab said, the accused embezzled around Tk 44,883,000 through forgery in the name of buying unnecessary medical equipment. According to the document, the misappropriation took place from March 23, 2018 to June 30, 2018.
