ACC sues ex-Rajshahi board chairman among 14

The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has filed three cases against Prof Abul Kalam Azad, the former chairman of Rajshahi Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board, former secretary Dr Anarul Haque and 12 other officials and employees for embezzling money. Al Amin, ACC assistant director of the ACC integrated district office in Rajshahi, filed the cases on Wednesday.
The other accused are: deputy secretary (Bhandar) Selina Parvin, security officer Golam Sarwar, contractors Shawkat Ali and Israfil Hossain, deputy secretary (Bhandar) Nesar Uddin Ahmed, deputy school inspector Manik Chandra Sen, assistant programmer Farman Ali, assistant exam controlar Jahirul Haque, mosque imam Abul Hashem M Rahmatullah, data entry/control operator Azhar Ali and contractors Rawshan Rezvi (Alam) and Ripon Roy (Kush).
According to the case statement, the accused misusing their power misappropriated Tk 18,44,831 without completing works on repair, renovation and construction of structures in different education boards during the period of 2015-16 and 2017-18 FY.
