ACC submits charge-sheet against DIG Partha

The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) yesterday submitted a charge-sheet against Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Prisons Partha Gopal Banik, who was arrested in a case filed on the charge of taking bribe of Tk 80 lakh and laundering money.
ACC Assistant Director and the Investigation Officer of the case, M Salahuddin submitted the chargesheet in the court of Dhaka’s Metropolitan Senior Special Judge KM Imrul Kayes on Monday. Later, the court fixed August 31 to accept the chargesheet against Partha.
He was shown arrested by the ACC on July 28 on charges of irregularities and

corruption after recovery of Tk 80 lakh from his North Green Road flat (Bhootergoli of Dhanmondi) during a raid.
“He did not show the money in his income tax file, making us to believe it was amassed illegally”, ACC Director Mohammad Yousuf said on that day.
The anti-graft body filed the case with its Integrated District Office-1 in Dhaka the following day. However, about the money, Partha said, Tk 30 lakh was given to him by his mother-in-law and Tk 50 lakh was earned by him during his service period.
