The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) on Wednesday interrogated the former managing director (MD) of Barapukuria Coal Mining Company Ltd (BCMCL) SM Nurul Aurangzeb over the ‘disappearance of coal’ from Barapukuria coal mine.
ACC Public Relations Officer Pranab Kumar Bhattacharya told UNB that the investigation officer of ACC deputy director Md Shamsul Alam quizzed Nurul Aurangzeb from 9.30 am to 4 pm in ACC Headquarters in the capital.
Aurangzeb, now working as the managing director of Madhaypara Granite Mining Company, told the journalists after the
interrogation that no corruption happened during his tenure.
ACC also enquired him about the production procedure at Barapukuria coal-based power plant, he added.
Earlier on July 27, Barapukuria coal mine’s manager (administration) Mohammad Anisur Rahman filed a case against 19 accused over the coal scam.
On July 30, ACC sent a letter to the Immigration Police giving directives not to allow the accused to leave the country.
