ACC quizzes ex-CJ Sinha’s brother

The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) on Sunday quizzed former Chief Justice Surendra Kumar Sinha’s elder brother Narendra Kumar Sinha over a house in city’s Uttara area.
Narendra Sinha went to the ACC’s Segunbagicha head office around 11.15 am and was interrogated by the officials till 2.00pm.
According to the ACC officials, Narendra Sinha was also quizzed over the property and money transaction of his younger brother Sinha.
Earlier, Narendra Kumar Sinha submitted his income tax documents in the ACC.
The former official of Chattogram Port Narendra Sinha was made a phone call to him and asked him to appear before the office, said ACC director Syed Iqbal Hossain.
“I was asked to submit my income tax documents. During the interrogation, they asked me many things including my house in Uttara,” he said.
On July 10, the ACC Director Syed Iqbal filed a case against 11 people, including former chief justice Surendra Kumar Sinha and six officials of the now defunct Farmers Bank Ltd, for their alleged involvement in embezzlement, and money laundering.
According to case details, Justice Sinha and 10 others have been accused of embezzling Tk four crore from Farmer’s Bank – which has since been rebranded as Padma Bank Ltd.
