Staff Reporter :The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) on Tuesday approved a charge sheet against four persons, including former DCC Mayor Sadeque Hossain Khoka, on charge of causing loss of over Tk 800 crore to the Dhaka City Corporation.The top executives of the ACC consented on the charge sheet in a regular meeting, which might be placed in the court shortly, ACC PRO said.ACC Deputy Director Harun-ur-Rashid filed the case with Shahbagh Police Station on March 29 in 2012.According to the case statement, the loss was the result of the corruption taking place between 2007 and 2009.In the case, the complainant said that the DCC authorities made a deal with Nirman Trading to build a tower for car parking on its 27 kathas of land at 35, Motijheel Commercial area.As per the agreement, the company was entitled to 70 percent of the income from car parking and 30 percent to the government.ACC Commissioner Mohammad Shahabuddin Chuppu said that the DCC would have been benefitted had it itself built the tower. “But the corporation got the tower built by the construction company for which the DCC suffered a loss of Tk 800 crore”.Having got the truth of the allegation, the Commission approved the charge sheet against the accused persons after a three-year inquiry, he said.DCC (Region-10) Executive Engineer Mohammad Mansur Ahmed, Executive Engineer (Acting) Mojibur Rahman and Deputy Assistant Engineer (Region-8) Aminur Rahman Chowdhury are the other accused.
