UNB, Dhaka :
The Anti Corruption Commission (ACC) has cleared its five officials from the allegations of managing freedom fighter (FF) certificates without fulfilling the requirements.
The Commission at its recent meeting asked its inquiry officers to give
final reports relieving the five officials of the allegations, ACC sources said.
The ACC officials who have been given clean chits in acquiring FF certificates are deputy director SM Golam Mowla Siddique, director Ranjan Kumar Majumder, assistant inspector Abdus Sobhan, and court assistants Nurul Islam and Ishaque Fakir.
In October 2014, the ACC launched a move to examine the FF certificates of its nine officials, including a director general, who managed freedom fighter (FF) certificates without fulfilling the requirements.
A two-member probe team, led by its deputy director Zulfikar Ali, conducted probes against the ACC officials who are enjoying benefits as freedom fighters.
Earlier, the ACC in a controversial move also relieved its director general (legal) Kamrul Hasan Mollah of allegation although the ACC probe found that he managed his FF certificate without following the proper procedure.
According to the probe report, Kamrul did not fulfill minimum requirement in getting a FF certificate as he could not show any reasonable evidence in favour of his claim that he had taken part in the 1971 Liberation War.
