The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) yesterday filed another case against former Chief Justice Surendra Kumar Sinha on the charge of acquiring assets illegally.
ACC Secretary Anwar Hossain Hawladar said, Surendra Kumar Sinha got a plot in Uttara residential area from Rajdhani Unnayan Kartripakkha (RAJUK). He submitted an application for a three katha plot in the name of his brother Narendra Kumar Sinha in the Purbachal project and got it. Later, he made the three katha plot a five katha misusing his official position.
Besides, in lieu of this plot he took plot No. 1/A
on Road No. 6 in Uttara’s Sector 4. Later, he constructed a nine-storey building there. He paid Tk 7.5 million for the plot. Meanwhile, an independent engineer estimated Tk 6,31,5,865 as the construction cost of the building.
According to the case statement, SK Sinha acquired huge amount of wealth illegally beyond his known sources of income.
