UNB, Dhaka :The Anti Corruption Commission (ACC) has arrested over 100 graft suspects, mainly small fry, from across the country in the last 47 days, which is considered as a dress rehearsal for launching a bigger drive to catch big fish.Unlike in the past, the ACC launched the countrywide drive to apprehend graft suspects after its new Chairman Iqbal Mahmood took over on March 14, 2016. “Yeah, there’s a plan to launch a tougher drive to catch big fish. So, the current drive can be treated as our dress rehearsal,” an ACC official told UNB wishing not to be named.ACC secretary Abu M Mustafa Kamal, however, hinted that the Commission will surely get tougher in the coming days to accelerate its activities and will arrest influential graft suspects sued by the commission earlier. The Commission never considers graft suspects as ‘big or small’, he said, adding that it will apprehend graft accused whoever he or she is-big or small-for the sake of its investigation. According to official data, around 105 people have been arrested in various graft cases as of Tuesday (May 3).
