ACC case against ex-DIG Prisons Partha, verdict on Jan 9

A Dhaka court yesterday fixed January 9 to deliver the verdict in the case, the Anti Corruption Commission filed against former DIG Prisons Partha Gopal Banik.
Judge Sheikh Najmul Alam the Special Judge Court-4 of Dhaka passed the order fixing the date on Monday on completion of the arguments from both sides.
Recording the depositions of the witnesses ended on November 11.
Of the 14 witnesses, 11 testified in the case.
Prosecutor Mosharraf Hossain Kajal conducted the case on behalf of the prosecution, while Advocate Ehsanul Haque Samaji stood on behalf of the defence.
According to the case dossier, the prosecution conducted raid in the city’s Green Road house of Partha Banik and recovered Tk 80 lakh.
Assistant Director of Anti Corruption Commission, Md Salauddin filed the case against Partha Gopal on the charges money-laundering and taking bribe. Later, the then Sylhet DIG Prisons Partha Gopal was shown arrested and was sent to the jail.
On August 24, 2020, ACC officer Salauddin submitted the charge-sheet of the case to the court against the accused. Later, on November 4, the charge was framed against him.
It has been remembered, Partha Gopal, was suspended from his service from the date of arrest.
