ACC arrests NU Dy Controller

The Anti-Corruption Commission on Monday arrested Deputy Controller of Examinations of National University Badruzzaman from the city’s Mirpur area on charge of graft case.
ACC Director Morshed Alam arrested the NU Deputy Controller, said Pranab Kumar Bhattacharjee, Public Relations Officer of the commission.
Earlier on February 13, ACC arrested three other NU officials, including its Proctor and Assistant Registrar, out of 13 accused in a graft case.
The other accused NU former Vice-Chancellor Kazi Shahidullah, former pro-vice-chancellor Tofail Ahmed Chowdhury, former treasurer Kazi Faruk Ahmed, former registrar Feroz Akhter, sub-registrar Fahima Sultana, assistant registrar Dilruba Begum, registrar in-charge Mollah Mahfuz Al Hossain, assistant director M Shahabuddin and section officer M Abul Hossain are also under the surveillance of the Commission’s investigation into the case.
In 2012, ruling Awami League lawmaker AKM Mozammel Haque, now Liberation War Affairs Minister, filed the case against them with Joydebpur Police Station in Gazipur on charge of causing about Tk 1.04 crore losses to the government.
According to the case statement, the accused in collusion with each other provided Selection Grade to 159 NU officials violating government rules although the officials had got appointment as section officer and sub-technical officer, which caused waste of public money.
