The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) on Wednesday arrested a former executive engineer of Bangladesh Water Development Board (BWDB) from the capital on charge of taking bribe from a contractor.
The Executive Engineer has been identified as Md Abdul Malek, who was posted at BWDB, Barguna Division.
Public Relations Officer of the ACC Pranab Kumar Bhattacharya told The New Nation that Deputy Director (Patuakhali office) of the commission KM Misbah Uddin had arrested former executive engineer of BWDB, Barguna Division.
On August 11, 2016, the national anti-graft agency filed a case against Malek with Barguna Police Station for allegedly taking bribe from a local contractor promising him of giving work order under the Water Development Board.
It is alleged that Md Abdul Malek earned a good amount of money from the contractors giving them extra facilities.
