The Anti Corruption Commission (ACC) on Sunday arrested an accountant of Debidwar municipality in Comilla in a graft cases.
ACC deputy director Abul Kalam Azad of its Comilla Zila office arrested accountant Mahababul Alam from Comilla, ACC public relations officer Pranab Kumar Bhattacharya told UNB.
On May 5, 2016, the national anti-graft agency filed a case against Mahbub with Debidwar Police Station for allegedly swindling money by counterfeiting cheques.
According to the first information report (FIR), Mahbub withdrew about Tk 75 lakh from the municipality’s development fund by forging the signatures of Upazila Nirbahi Officer and municipality administrator in 64 cheques.
