ACC arrests 3 graft suspects

The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) have arrested three graft suspects, including two former customs inspectors, from the capital and Khulna.
ACC Deputy Assistant Director Nasim Uddin arrested former Customs Inspectors Kazi Rafiqul Islam and Kalipad Das from the capital on Friday, said Commission’s Public Relations Officer Pranab Kumar Bhattacharya on Saturday.
In 2006, the ACC filed a case against them for allegedly swindling out nearly Tk five crore.
ACC arrested Mujibar Rahman Khan from his residence at Khalishpur Housing Estate in Khulna city around 9:30am on Saturday.
Assistant Director of the Commission SM Shamim Iqbal confirmed it to The New Nation and said as Mujibar could leave the country any time, the decision of arrest was taken.
Later, the businessman was handed over to Sonadanga Model Police requesting them to launch a case against him, Shamim Iqbal also said.
In 2011, Mojibur opened a letter of credit for Tk102cr from Premier Bank, Khulna Branch, to import wheat from Canada.
