The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has approved a charge-sheet against eight persons, including seven staff of the Chittagong Port Authority, for allegedly embezzling nearly Tk 35 lakh.
ACC Public Relations Officer Pranab Kumar Bhattacharya told The New Nation that the approval was given very recently.
The accused have been identified as higher grade clerks of Chittagong Port Authority Shyamol Krishna Bhowmik and Pradeep Kumar Mohajan, Departure Assistant Adhir Kanti Chakraborty, former Assistant Traffic Inspector Saleh Jahor, suspended ASI Mizanur Rahman and Security Personnel Sagir Ahmed and Monir Ahmed, and C&F agent of Albo Enterprises Barun Kanti Sen.
According to the ACC investigation, goods worth Tk 35 lakh were stolen from Yard-1 of Chittagong Port in 2000.
