Academic sessions of two new public schools after long 55 years in Barisal city were inaugurated at their temporary campus in government Zila School of on Saturday.
Amir Hossain Amu, Industries Minister, was Chief Guest at the inaugural ceremony presided over by Dr. Gazi Md. Saifuzzaman, Deputy Commissione, Barisal.
Among others Prof. Dr. S M Imamul Haque, vice chancellor Barisal University, Jebunnesa Afroj, Talukdar Md. Yunus, AL lawmakers, Md. Gaus, Divisional Commissioner, Prof. Ziaul Huq, Chairman Barisal Education Board, Abdul Halim, Director General of Governance Innovation Unit of Prime NMinister’s office, A S Mahmud, Additional Secretary of Education Ministry, Rafiqul Islam, Director of Seven Government Schools Set Up Project, were present in the ceremony.
In the ceremony industry minister said AL-led government gave top priority for development of education sector.
So new schools, colleges, madrasas, universities are established in both public and private sectors and started their academic activities, he added.
Construction works for 7-storied two school buildings in Kawnia and Rupatali areas at the cost of Tk.12 core for each school started in early 2013.
The construction would be ended within January 2017 to accommodate 2,500 students in two-shift started of each school, said Jahangir Alam, executive engineer of education engineering department Barisal office.
Mentionable Barisal was announced as district in 1797 and an English school named as Barisal School for boys started functioning with government grants in the district town on December 23, 1829.
