AC Shabbir`s family awaiting autopsy report

The family members of Shabbir Ahmed Sarfaraz, Assistant Commissioner of Police (AC), Rajshahi, who committed suicide, are waiting for the autopsy report.
He was buried in the village of Babupur under Shibganj Upazila of Chapainawabganj district.
The deceased left a three years old daughter and his wife, who is a Physician, to mourn his death.
It is alleged that he committed suicide at the officers’ mess in Rajshahi in the morning of April 29. According to police, Shabbir’s
neck was found tied with a window rod in his room of the mess.
AC Shabbir’s father Obaidullah Haque was Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) of Rajshahi. His mother was a senior banker of Rajshahi Krishi Unnayan Bank. Rajshahi Metropolitan Police spokesman and Senior AC Iftekhar Alam said: “We recovered the body of AC Shabbir from RMP quarter around 9am on April 29. He was a member of the 31st batch of Bangladesh Civil Service (BCS).
After primary investigation, Forensic Department Professor Anamul Haque of Rajshahi Medical College Hospital said that Shabbir tied the rope around his neck after which he pushed away the sofa he was sitting on, and died.
“Initially the death appears to be suicide since the door was locked from the inside. But we cannot confirm anything before the autopsy of the corpse,” Prof Anamul Huq said.
