Legendary actor and play director Abul Hayat has returned to stage after a break of 12 years.
He will return to theatre play in that role where 12 years ago he acted in such a role in a popular play.
Under the direction of Cultural Affairs Minister Asaduzzaman Noor MP the play Dewan Gazi’r Kichchha is scheduled to be staged at the Main Auditorium of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy on September 11.
Asaduzzaman Noor has adapted story of the play from the main story of Bertolt Brecht of Germany. It will be staged by Nagorik Natya Sampradaya. Abul Hayat will perform in role of Makhon in Dewan Gazi’r Kichchha. Twelve years ago, the play was last staged at Mohila Samity Auditorium in the city’s Bailey Road area. While sharing his feelings to work in the play after 12 years Abul Hayat told this correspondent, “It is really a great luck for me to perform on the stage. I cannot express my feelings by some words. I strongly believe that our golden days of theatre will return again.”
Today is birthday of Abul Hayat. Today will turn 72. Today is also birthday of his granddaughter Srisha (daughter of Natasa Hayat). Today from morning to noon he will be engaged to talk about himself in three satellite channels to celebrate his birthday. In the afternoon, he will pass time with wife, daughters and their husbands and their children, Abul Hayat said.
He mentioned that on the occasion of coming Eid-ul-Azha he will make two plays. From tomorrow he will start to make these plays – Onto Shrot and Agomon, which stories were written by Rabeya Khatun and himself respectively. Shahed and Swagota will act in these plays. First play is scheduled to telecast on Channel i, while rest one will be aired on ETV.
