Abu Hanif of Sonali Bank Sports & Recreation Club emerged unbeaten champion in the ACP’B FIDE Rapid Rating Chess tournament held on Friday last at Bangladesh Chess Federation hall-room in the city.
The event was arranged to raise fund for the treatment of international rated chess player F M Obaida Nipun, who is suffering serious disease.Hanif earned 8 points out of 9 games to clinch the title.
Three players secured 7.5 points each, FM Syed Mahfuzur Rahman Emon of Sheikh Russel Chess Club became runner-up, Alimul Haque Kazal became 3rd and Monir Hossain placed in 4th in tie-breaking system.
Sariatullah of Sonagaon Chess Club became 5th and Kazi Mahbub Afzal of Sultana Kamal Smirity Pathagar became 6th with 7 points each, said a press release.
