Blogger Avijit murder case: ABT man Sabur placed on 4-day remand

A Dhaka court yesterday placed Ansarullah Bangla Team (ABT) operation wing member Sabur alias Razu alias Saad on a four-day remand in the writer and blogger Avijit Roy murder case.
Magistrate Sadbir Yeasir Ahsan Chowdhury of the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (CMM) Court of Dhaka passed the order after hearing on Sunday.
Monirul Islam, Inspector of Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime (CTTC) and Investigation Officer of the case, filed a petition with the court seeking a 10-day remand for Sabur on April 2. Sabur was arrested in a case filed with the city’s Mohammadpur Police Station on November 2, 2015. Since then, he has been behind the bar.
 Avijit Roy, son of Dr Ajoy Roy, a former Professor of the Physics Department of Dhaka University and founder of Muktamona Blog, was killed and his wife Rafida Afrin Banya was injured in an attack near the Teacher-Student Centre (TSC) on the university campus on February 26, 2015. They came under the attack when they came out of Ekushey Boi Mela.
Later, Avijit’s father Ajoy Roy lodged the murder case with Shahbagh Police Station of the capital.
