Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) on Thursday arrested three members of Ansarullah Bangla Team including its chief on charge of killing the bloggers Ananta Bijoy Das and Avijit Roy. Acting on a tip-off, the RAB-3 members raided the Fakirerpool area at 5:00am and arrested Abul Bashar,
chief of the banned Islamist outfit and two others. The other members have identified as the outfit’s media wing staff Julhas Biswas and Jafran Al Hasan.
Commanding Officer of RAB-3 Lieutenant Colonel Khandaker Golum Sarwar confirmed it.
During primary interrogation, they disclosed that two of their members namely Ramzan and Naeem were directly involved with the killing of bloggers Ananta Bijoy Das and Avijit Roy.
Blogger Ananta Bijoy Das was killed at Subid Bazar in Sylhet city on May 12, while Avijit Roy was hacked to death near the Suhrawardy Udyan in Dhaka on February 26 this year.
