Abrar murder case : Hearing on charge framing Jan 30

The Metropolitan Sessions Judge’s Court of Dhaka yesterday (Tuesday) took cognizance of the charges against 25 students of Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET) accused in the Abrar Fahad murder case and fixed January 30 for hearing on charge framing.
Scrutinizing the case docket, Judge KM Emrul Kayesh of the court passed the order in presence of the 22 accused.
Of the accused three are on the run. They are Morsheduzzaman Jishan, Mustafa Rafid and Ehtashamul Rabbi Tanim. Later, the court set January 30 for hearing on charge framing against the accused of the case.
On October 7, Abrar, a second-year student of Electrical and Electronics Engineering Department of Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology, was beaten to death by a group of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) men at the university’s Sher-e-Bangla Hall in Dhaka.
Eight of the accused made confessional statements in magistrate courts narrating the horrifying torture of the victim. Sixty people were made prosecution witnesses (PWs) in the case.
On the same day of death, Abrar’s father Barkatullah lodged the murder case against 19 BUET students with Chawkbazar Police Station. The names of all of them are included in the charge-sheet of the case.
