Abrar Fahad killing: Fugitive Amartya surrenders

Staff Reporter: Morshed Amartya Islam, one of the four fugitive suspects in the
murder of BUET student Abrar Fahad has surrendered to Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate court.
Metropolitan Magistrate Begum Yasmin Ara rejected his bail plea and ordered to jail him.
Amartya, BUET’s 17th batch student, surrenderd to Dhaka’s Chief Metropolitan Magistrate’s Court and sought bail in the case on Sunday.
The court of Metropolitan Magistrate Yasmin Ara sent Amartya to jail after rejecting his bail petition this afternoon.
Fugitive Morshed Amartya, fomer member of BCL’s Buet unit also expelled student of mechanical engineering (batch 17) surrendered to the court around 12:00pm and prayed for his bail in the case.
On October 7, Abrar, a second-year student of electrical and electronics engineering department of Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology, was beaten to death by a group of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) men at the university’s Sher-e-Bangla Hall in Dhaka.
The murder triggered huge protests on campuses across the country. Many took to social media to demand justice for Abrar.
On the same day of his death, Abrar’s father Barkatullah filed a murder case against 19 Buet students with Chawkbazar Police Station. All of them are charge-sheeted accused.
