About 40 thousand examinees were found absent from the Higher Secondary Certificate and its equivalent examinations in last four days.
Approximately 500 students faced expulsion till Sunday for committing irregularities in the examination’s halls across the country.
Of them, 31 students were expelled for keeping smart mobile phones in their pockets during the examination hours in the Ahmed Baowani School and College center in the capital on April 5.
Carrying any kind of mobile phones during the examination is prohibited for the students as well as the teachers.
A total of 13.11 lakh sat for the HSC and its equivalent examination from 8,943 educational institutions and in 2,541 centres all over the country.
Of them, A total of 13,719 students were absent on the first day of the examination under the 10 education boards.
As many as 89 students and seven teachers were expelled for irregularities in the examinations’ halls.
At least 14008 students were absent on the third day of the HSC examinations under nine education board except Madrasa Board on Thursday.
A total of 200 examinees were also expelled for committing irregularities during the examination halls on the day.
The English 1st paper examination was held on Thursday.
Of the absent and expelled examinees, a total of 3,951 students were absent and 67 expelled in Dhaka Board, 1,624 absent and seven expelled in Rajshahi Board, 1,165 absent and seven expelled in Cumilla Board, 1,374 absent and 12 expelled in Jashore Board, 1,149 absent and six expelled in Chattagram
Board, 843 absent and two expelled in Sylhet Board, 828 absent and 13 expelled in Barishal Board and 1,189 absent and 13 expelled in Dinajpur Board.
A total of 1,885 students were absent and 52 expelled under Technical Board on the third day of the HSC examinations. About 12,575 examinees were absent and 167 students expelled on the fourth day of the English 2nd Paper examination.
Of them, as many as 4,095 students were absent and 74 expelled in Dhaka Board, 1,192 absent and eight expelled in Chattagram Board, 1,684 absent and 12 expelled in Rajshahi Board, 82 absent and 15 expelled in Barishal Board, 845 absent and 12 expelled in Sylhet Board, 1,284 absent and 15expelled in Dinajpur Board, 1,165 absent and 15 expelled in Cumilla Board and 1, 452 absent and 16 expelled in Jashore Board.
At least 21 students were absent under the Technical Board on the Fourth day of the examinations.
Ziaul Haque, Chairman of Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education, Dhaka, said the Education Ministry took all-out preparation to check question paper leakage and irregularities in the examination’ halls.
“Our motto is to hold the HSC and its equivalent examination smoothly and without irregularities before and during the examinations. We are also doing that,” he said.
Meanwhile, no report of question paper leakage was found in the four days of the examinations.
