Terming blood donation as the best gift, State Minister for ICT Division Zunaid Ahmed Palak urged able people to donate blood as a little blood according to their ability can save the life of others.
He said this on Thursday at a virtual press conference of facebook group ‘Bloodman’, as the chief guest, said a press release.
Marking the World Blood Donor Day, the Facebook group arranged the press conference on how to find blood donors in hospitals and blood banks using Facebook blood donation tools.
The tools would make bridge between the ICT department, Facebook and Bloodman with public and private hospitals, he said, adding it will also act as a digital bridge between the blood donors and the recipients.
Palak called on mobile operators to extend humanitarian services, such as blood donation and mental healthcare, to everyone during this pandemic. At the same time, Facebook authorities were called to introduce chatbot facility in the blood donation option to get these services easily, the release added.
He called on mobile operators to make the use of blood donation and mental health services apps free during this pandemic.
Facebook’s Head of Policy Programmes for South and Central Asia Shelley Thakral, who was present at the press conference, responded positively to his call.
Md. Shahriar Hasan Jisan, founder and Chairman of Bloodman Bangladesh, spoke on the occasion and answered questions of journalists who were connected online.
